Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Packaging
PCR means Post-Consumer Recycled material or Post Consumer Resin, and generally refers to plastics such as PET, PP and HDPE which are widely recycled and then reprocessed into a resin that is used to make new packaging. In simple terms, it is packaging that is being given a second life.
D.G.Sustainable
We are excited to be one of the leading cosmetic packaging suppliers in the Philippine to provide a sustainable packaging solution.
Â
DGS currently can apply PCR to tube body on both mono layer and multi-layers tube according to the percentages requested by our clients. In order to eliminate doubts about the use of new materials in tube packaging, we suggest clients using multi-layers tube. By putting PCR in the middle layers of the tube, we can be sure that the PCR material does not contaminate and effect both the cosmetic formula nor the decoration on the appearance.

The Benefits of PCR Packaging
Using PCR packaging can help your company reduce its carbon footprint(greenhouse gas/carbon gas emissions), lessen its impact on landfills, and meet its overall sustainability goals.
PCR packaging also matches the quality of regular flexible packaging. PCR packaging can offer the same level of protection, barrier performance, and strength as regular plastic packaging. You can rest assured knowing that PCR packaging will still block light, oxygen, and other gases from penetrating the package layer and getting into your product.Â
There are many more benefits of using post-consumer recycled packaging. For instance:
• better branding
• better customer relations in fulfilling consumers demand for sustainable products
• better margins with higher price points, due to the demand
• long term sustainability for economic growth
All the more reasons why we should focus more on post-consumer recycled materials.

Bio Based polylactic acid (PLA) tube Packaging
Corn plastic is made from polylactic acid (PLA), which is a plastic substitute, made from fermented plant starch. It is becoming a popular alternative to traditional plastic, which is derived from petroleum based chemicals. The different uses of polylactic acid could be a way of how to reduce a carbon footprint that is left by fossil fuel plastics.
Biodegradable Cornstarch
Cornstarch products, use renewable agricultural derived starch to make bioplastic polymers that can be made into oil-based plastic substitutes. Cornstarch plastic products look and feel just like regular plastic, but they are 100% biodegradable and compostable. Cornstarch products are preferable mainly because:

They are made from a renewable plant material
They replace fossil fuel based products
They are theoretically recyclable if systems are actually put in place
They are biodegradable and compostable at the end of their useful lives

Producing PLA uses 65 percent less energy than producing conventional plastics, according to an independent analysis commissioned by NatureWorks. It also generates 68 percent fewer greenhouse gases, and contains no toxins.
Probably the greatest contribution that cornstarch PLA can make is in the area of packaging.
